Agency Member, COHN Honored as One of The Top 5 Best Places to Work

June 16, 2017

COHN was honored by the Denver Business Journal as one of The Top 5 Best Places to Work in the medium size company category.

“Our brand is to go beyond expectations,” said the CEO and president of Denver-based Cohn Marketing. “So I strive to go beyond expectations for my people and correlate the idea to what we should be doing for our clients.”

One of Cohn’s favorite surprises (for new employees at least) is to forgo a traditional holiday party and meet at a local retail mall where he hands out gift cards to staff. The only rules are that they have to deplete the value of the gift card in 90 minutes — and they have to spend it for themselves.

Cohn came from a corporate retail background which taught him “to always take care of the people who take care of your customers,” he said. “I learned what it was like to work at a company where people are valued and respected, and I always wanted to bring that back to the company that I created.”

Other benefits include the company’s rotating dog policy where five or six dogs are in the office every day. There’s also the Cohn Culture Club, which includes a representative from each department who work together to create internal events and programs for the team.

One year, the Culture Club asked Cohn to write Valentine’s notes to every employee, which were left on every desk with a box of chocolates.

“It really goes back to creating this culture of humanity and support,” said Cohn.

In 2017, the company also started to offer flexible paid time off, which enables employees to take as much time as they need every year.

“It’s recognizing that work and life have to be in balance, and if you hire the right people, they are going to get their jobs done,” said Cohn. “I don’t worry about it at all.”
